On the west coast of Canada, in the province of BC (British Columbia), you'll find the town of Ladysmith. It is found on the eastern coast of the magnificent Vancouver Island. Ladysmith lies 26 kilometers (16 miles) south of Nanaimo and 85 kilometers (53 miles) north of Victoria.

The town has all the charm and warmth of a small city, with a comprehensive array of services and attractions. Its thriving population appeals to people of all ages, all of which contribute to its continuous growth.  Most homes in the town are single-detached, with a diverse selection of residential units, nearby shopping centers, easy highway accessibility. Ladysmith has an estimated population of 8,500 inhabitants. Over the last fifteen years, between 2001 and 2016, the town's population size has grown at a rate of 1.97 percent annually. Its population increased by 616 persons between 2011 and 2016, a 1.56 percent annual growth rate.

Over the next twenty years, the Cowichan Valley Regional District is predicted to continue to develop. According to predictions, the population of the Regional District will be over 100,000 people by 2035. Throughout that time, Ladysmith is projected to grow in population by over 35 percent.

Long-term demographic growth is predicted to be fueled by population increase in Canada and British Columbia and closeness to major markets, attracting regional commuters looking for lower house prices, a better lifestyle. The current ageing population will also contribute significantly to this.

Skateboard Park (An outdoor skate park that has recently been refurbished): It features many goodies, including pyramids, 1/4 pipes, stairs, and fun box rails.

Arboretum Park (a small park near Transfer Beach Park's entrance): It features Sequoia, Pine, Garry Oak, Cedar, and Dogwood species. It also includes a leashed dog strolling and a picnic area.

Harbourview Park (A neighborhood park with a view of the ocean): Features include a viewpoint, a playground, and opportunities to watch flora, animals, and birds.

Spirit Square & Lions Park (A public square where persons of all ages come to relax, play, and celebrate). Features include a playground, picnic area, views of the harbor, restrooms, and garden area.

Transfer Beach Park (A waterfront park in the heart of the city). It serves as a focal point for community cultural events. Features include a playground, swimming, kayaking, sand volleyball, spray park, horseshoe pitch, boating, fishing, and basketball, as well as an off-leash pet area, a lookout, a viewpoint, wildlife, and bird watching. Picnic tables, a shaded picnic (or campground) area, washrooms, amphitheater, and a temporary concession stand are all available.
